Healing Parish Council is a statutory consultee of North East Lincolnshire Council for planning applications within the Parish of Healing. The Parish Council is also often consulted on applications which are in neighbouring Parishes and which may have an overall impact on the village of Healing.
Applications are discussed at either the main Parish Council meeting or at separate Planning Meetings, both of which are open to members of the public and the press should they wish to attend.
The Parish Council does not have the power to authorise or veto a planning application. The role of the Parish Council is to supply comments and observations based on their knowledge of the village, the contents of the Parish Plan and also from comments and observations made by residents.
The comments made by the Parish Council are then sent off to North East Lincolnshire Council who use those comments to form part of the strategy for the granting or refusal of planning applications.
Copies of the plans which are sent to the Parish Council are always available at the meetings at which they are discussed for residents to view. Residents may also view plans, if they have been received, within the Parish, by prior arrangement with the Clerk, Kathy Peers. Residents would usually have to travel to a Council Customer Services Point or the Planning Office to view plans, but they are available within the Parish for viewing as above.
